The Planning, Budget and Aid Coordination Department (PBACD), under the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, successfully launched the Citizen Budget Guide (CBG) 2026/27 and the Te-Kete Mid-Term Review (MTR) Report on Friday, 9 October 2026.

The launch brought together representatives from government, Island Kaupule, civil society organisations, NGOs and other stakeholders to learn about Tuvalu’s national development progress and the government budget.
The Te-Kete Mid-Term Review Report provides an update on progress towards Tuvalu’s national development goals, highlighting key achievements, ongoing challenges and priorities for the remainder of the planning cycle.

The Citizen Budget Guide complements this by presenting budget information in a simple and accessible way helping citizens better understand how public funds are allocated and used. These two important documents support greater transparency, accountability and public understanding of national development planning and government spending. They also encourage communities and stakeholders to take a more active interest in Tuvalu’s development priorities.
Following the successful launch, PBACD is pleased to share that the team has already started engagement with the outer islands of Niu, Vaitupu and Nukufetau on the Citizen Budget Guide and Te-Kete Mid-Term Review Report. This ongoing work aims to bring important budget and development information closer to island communities, promote greater understanding of government priorities, and encourage meaningful participation in Tuvalu’s development process.

PBACD extends its sincere gratitude to all participants, speakers, facilitators, partner organisations and stakeholders who contributed to the successful launch. We especially thank our Island Kaupule representatives and civil society partners for their valuable participation and continued support. We look forward to continuing this engagement with the outer island communities as we work together towards a more informed, transparent and inclusive development process for Tuvalu.
